The Controlled Media Conclusion at bottom
"We are going to impose OUR AGENDA Barbara Walters
"There is NO such thing, at this date of the worlds history in America, as an independent press. You know it and I know it. ... I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinion out of the paper ... The business of the journalists is to DESTROY the truth; to LIE outright; to PERVERT; to VILLIFY; to FAWN at the feet of mammon, and to SELL his country and his race for his daily bread. ... We are the TOOLS and VASSALS of rich men BEHIND THE SCENES. We are the jumping jacks; they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents ... are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes." John Swinton (former Chief of Staff for New York Times)
National Media in America – Rules Change – Trouble Ted Elden Jan 5 05 adapted from Noam Chomsky, MIT Prof.
Defenders of narrowing control of the media point to large numbers of media outlets available to the population: almost 1,700 daily papers, more than 8,000 weeklies, 10,000 radio and television stations, 11,000 magazines, 2,500 book publishers ... and more ... Unfortunately, the large numbers deepen the problem of excessively concentrated control. If the number of outlets is growing and the number of owners declining, then each owner controls even more formidable communications power.
General Electric the largest defense contractor, receives billions of tax dollars, annually controls a huge proportion of US media.
For most of the 20th century, General Electric maintained large internal publicity offices and spent millions advertising to gain favor in public mind. Starting in the 1980’s, they adopted a new strategy. Why struggle to gain favorable attention in media? Just buy the media. In 1980’s GE began to purchase major media companies.
With over $ 100
million in revenues, GE is rated # 1 of Forbes 500 list, is by far the
largest controller of US media. GE has plans to purchase more media outlets.
General Electric,
also, often in partnership with Microsoft, controls many of the major
internet websites and businesses.
The massively concentrated ownership of media outlets by a few corporations poses a question. When the press is overwhelmingly owned by 5 major corporations. one of them being the largest defense contractor as well as the largest media owner, Can there be a truly free and independent press?
Most of the media companies in the US are controlled by only 10 corporations, referred to as the new Media Cartel. The 10 are: - General Electric, - Disney, - Time Warner, - New Corp., - Viacom, - Vivendi, - Sony, - Berltesman, - AT&T and - Liberty Media. This cartel keeps us fully entertained and only half-informed. It’s growing here and shrinking there but over all, the Leviathan grows ever larger, ever louder and ever less subject to oversight and dissent. They have economic clout and cultural sway They taking up more time and space, in every street, in
Countless homes, in every other head, much like Big Brother
predicted in George Orwell’s 1984 novel. Now GE controls:

In conclusion:
Since the beginning of time, men strive to concentrate wealth, power, control in the hands of fewer and fewer people.
We thought we lived in a republic / democracy, protected by our constitution.
We thought we had an Executive Branch - President, Legislators, and Courts.
None ever posed to us before that all systems fail, when we are working with false information.
The media leads our thinking, what we consider (which facts to exclude) to conclusions that benefit those in power.
Most things in America are bought and sold, beyond the market to the powers that control us in many ways.
The media has been sold out, bought up by those controlling our government and all other ways to control us.
It is far simpler to keep us uniformed that to control us with restrictive laws, guns, fences and prisons.
Never before has information been easier to find and understand with an internet connect in nearly everyone's reach.
Do you accept without question the loud media
that reaches you,
or are you independently investigating things that affect your life, freedoms,
finances & security.
