Arthur Clark, a Mason & novelist, invented or expanded the idea that man can travel:
- in space - to the moon and - beyond to planets & galaxies.
He also invented or created the idea that "Satellites" could "orbit" and yet remain stationary

above a location on a "rotating" earth.
2001 - A Space Odyssey is a famous & glamorous movie of his novel.
That movie came out just a year prior to the first 1969 "moon landing"

making the physical conquest SEEM all the more possible.
